FACING THE FUTURE

FACING THE FUTURE
What do you desire God to do in your life? What goals do you want to achieve? Have you sought the Lord’s direction for His purpose and calling for your life?

The mistake that we often make is to procrastinate, putting off until tomorrow what we are more than capable through Christ
of doing today.

But my dear friend, do not idle away the precious time that God has given you by merely desiring and aspiring – without perspiring; without making an effort, without putting your hand to the plough; you can not expect any results.

Start where you are now and face the future.

THE PRIVILEGES OF THE FUTURE
The Bible says in Ecclesiastes 7:8: Better is the end of a thing than the beginning thereof: and the patient in spirit is better than the proud in spirit. (KJV)
It would be foolish to think that better days are over for you; if you think that ‘the good old days’ are the best that God has for you. No matter what a year holds and what you have experienced in the past, it is not over yet.
In the programme and provisions of God, He always saves the best ‘til last. No matter what a man goes through, the latter end is always the best end. The Bible says even though your beginning be small, your latter end shall be great, and that even though a man go through the valley of the shadow of death, his end will be in the house of the Lord.

When God begins a thing in your life, He doesn’t close the book until He finishes a good work with you and in you (Philippians 1:6).
Sometimes you may not feel like you are a special person set apart for greatness; you may even hate change and like things the way they are. But you see, God knows what He is doing and He sees a better day ahead. No matter how good it looks today, it is not comparable to the best God still has for you. Don’t despise today. God wants to do a new thing. The New Year will introduce you to new opportunities.

THE PURPOSE OF THE FUTURE
Purpose is the engine room of your life and you must find it, fuel it, and fulfil it. Purpose has the capacity to wake up dormant abilities in you. Your purpose was put in place before you even arrived on this earth. God has said to everything there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven (Ecclesiastes 3:1 (KJV)). So that includes you.

Your purpose will protect you from living your life according to other people’s expectation. Your purpose will help you to navigate your way in life and appreciate the fact that God has fixed the end of your matter for good, despite how bad it looks now. Nothing at any stage of your life is comparable to your coming attraction. That’s why, with his eye on the future, Job said: “I will wait until my change comes” (Job 14:14). Nothing in your present compares with your future. In fact, the present satisfaction is the enemy of the future best. You can’t afford to be attached to anything in your present. It would be foolish to get into a false sense of security in the present when tomorrow holds a greater testimony. Read 1 Corinthians 2:9 and realise that what God is about to do in your life is nothing short of awesome.

PLAN THE FUTURE
Nothing works without a plan. Proverbs 24:3-4 says: A house is built by wisdom and becomes strong through good sense.
Through knowledge its rooms are filled with all sorts of precious riches and valuables. (Living Bible)
You must be true to yourself and plan for the future. If you are not true to yourself you will eat the bread of deceit. Don’t flatter yourself and pretend that things are right when they are wrong.
Blaming people will not help you and looking back with a negative view causes you to walk in low self-esteem, self-blame and self pity.
If you do not break out of denial and blaming the people from your past, you will repeat your failures over and over and over.
Don’t live on what you have lost: forget it and face the future. You are a child of God, born of God and ‘whatsoever is born of God overcometh the world: and this is the victory that overcometh the world, even our faith.’ (1 John 5:4 KJV). Don’t celebrate failure and don’t explain defeat. Refuse to build around failure.

Move away from the people of yesterday, the problems of yesterday and the stories of yesterday. Experience the triumph of faith spoken of in 1 John 5:4 and become unstoppable. Take the limits off God and go and do the undoable. In John 2:1-11, the people faced a problem. They ran out of wine. But rather than play the blame game the mother of Jesus told the servants, ‘Whatever He says to you, do it’. Likewise, let the Word, produce your dream, produce your vision and produce your expectation.
